When we say “Fueling South Africa’s Future,” we don’t only mean the fuel that goes into vehicles. We mean the fuel that goes into young people’s dreams, ambitions and futures.

Today we proudly celebrate the graduation of the first cohort of Andrew’s Youth Skills Programme — a comprehensive 12-week training initiative that has equipped 52 young men and women from Phokeng and surrounding Royal Bafokeng communities with world-class skills in fuel retail, customer service excellence, entrepreneurship and business management.

Why We Created This Programme

At Andrew’s Filling Station we have always believed that true success is measured by the opportunities we create for the next generation. Our flagship station in Phokeng already employs over 30 people, but we wanted to do more. We wanted to open doors for young people who dream of careers in business, retail, logistics and entrepreneurship — right here at home.

This is not a once-off CSR project. It is the beginning of a long-term commitment to skills development and youth empowerment as we prepare for our 2027 national expansion.

"We are not just training fuel attendants. We are developing the next generation of South African business leaders, station managers, entrepreneurs and community builders."

— Ofentse Senne, CEO

What the Training Covered

The programme was designed in partnership with local experts and industry professionals to give participants immediately usable, high-demand skills:

  • Fuel Retail Operations – Safe dispensing of ULP 93, ULP 95 and 50 ppm diesel, pump maintenance, stock control and forecourt management.
  • Premium Customer Service – World-class service standards that match our brand promise of excellence.
  • Digital & Financial Literacy – Infinity Rewards system training, point-of-sale systems and basic business finance.
  • Entrepreneurship & Leadership – Business planning, marketing, leadership skills and how to start and grow a small enterprise.
  • Safety, Health & Environmental Standards – Full compliance training aligned with national petroleum regulations.

Real Voices from Our Graduates

“I never thought I would have a career in fuel retail. Today I leave with a certificate, confidence and a job offer at Andrew’s. This programme changed my life.”
— Lerato M., 22, Phokeng
“The entrepreneurship module taught me how to turn my ideas into a real business plan. I now want to open my own car wash and convenience store one day.”
— Thabo K., 24, Mogwase
“For the first time I feel seen and valued. Andrew’s didn’t just teach us skills — they showed us that we belong in this industry.”
— Keabetswe N., 21, Phokeng

The Impact So Far

• 52 graduates (68% young women)
• 41 already placed in full-time or part-time positions at Andrew’s and partner businesses
• 9 graduates starting their own micro-enterprises with mentorship support
• Average age of participants: 21 years old
• 100% of graduates received nationally recognised certificates

This is only the first cohort. Plans are already underway for a second intake later this year, with the goal of training over 200 young people annually as our national network grows.

A Legacy That Keeps Giving

This programme is deeply personal. It continues the vision my grandfather started — using our business to uplift the very community that supported us from the beginning. As we expand nationally in 2027, every new Andrew’s station will include a similar youth development commitment.

Because when we fuel young dreams in Phokeng today, we are building the leaders who will help power South Africa’s future tomorrow.

Real transformation is not measured in litres of fuel sold.
It is measured in the number of young lives we help ignite.
